It must be said, however, that in the case of Ms. Spears, there were prior indications that all was not well. Do you recall this exchange between Britney Spears and Tucker Carlson on CNN:
CARLSON: A lot of entertainers have come out against the war in Iraq. Have you?
SPEARS: Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision that he makes and we should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens.
CARLSON: Do you trust this president?
SPEARS: Yes, I do.
CARLSON: Excellent.
Some saw it as an attempt on her part to stake out intellectual/celebropolitical turf previously claimed only by Ted Nugent. I, however, saw only a soul in pain and a mind in danger.
