I get that too. I guess it’s so that the office staff don’t have to spend hours everyday answering email. I find it difficult to hand it out because now they’ll know that I’m not a Liberal supporter.

I’m gettin’ t’ the point that whenver I see sumpin’ like this I ask myself - “What’s the carbon footprint?”

My own MP Diane Finley’s jest like them two only worse. I emailed her a coupla times an’ got zero response. At the same time I emailed her, I emailed Belinda Stronach (when she was still a Con). Belinda’s office guy emailed back an’ assured me that Belinda would see my message. O’ course, I don’t know if she did or not.

Speakin’ o’ carbon footprints, I been tryin’ t’ get sum traction on these here limousine rides ol’ Diane’s takin’ at our expense.

There’s a buncha receipts fer limo rides. We paid out $700+ jest t’ get Diane from Pearson t’ the Royal York. There’s a few other $700+ bills in that PDF, too. She’s ridin’ round like Mick Jagger in the back o’ these here bigass Caddy V8’s.

Now Diane’s got eyeball troublems. That’s howcum she wears them dark glasses. Mebbe she can’t drive herself an’ mebbe she needs a ride. But dang it all, why can’t these nobs use Prius taxicabs or the GO Train or ride the Greyhound.

I’ve been thinking some similar enviro footprint thoughts lately, trying to do good myself (cycle everywhere I can, transit or walk most other times), and wondering about how other groups can do good too.

So I was miffed when I was in a Starbucks near UofT and asked if they had a paper recycling. The guy behind the counter had the audacity to say “We don’t generate too much paper waste.” I looked around and saw that every single person had a paper cup, and at least one or two napkins. Then I looked back at him and raised my eyebrows. He smiled like a goof. I said, “Really?” He didn’t seem to note the irony in my voice.

This was the same day that Al Gore spoke at UofT. I didn’t get tickets in the 25 seconds after they went on sale, so I couldn’t go, but walking around campus, I noted the number of SUVs, minivans, and other gas-guzzlers that the audience had shamelessly parked outside. Now, I’m glad that Al was not only preaching to the converted, but some part of me thinks that reducing your footprint, at least when you’re starting out, should be a little bit of common sense, and should not neccessarily require an enviro superstar to tell you how to do it.

But maybe I’m just a cynic today. Sorry for going on a tanget, won’t happen again.

Them’s good points except I have had MP’s who did send me email so I gotta wonder why some’ll do it an’ others won’t. Mebbe they’re jest bein’ careful. Anyone can fake an email but I reckon committing forgery by sending something purportedly from a MP would be a criminal offense jest as much as sendin’ a fake paper letter — which anyone can do almost as easily as sending a fake email. Maybe easier with the return address.

I think they don’t want the emails circulated like the Treehugger sez. Too bad fer them… I hear-tell they got these here scanner doo-dads where you can scan a paper letter an’ send it over the internets, too.

I got anuther theory, though, that occured t’ me one time when I sent a paper letter t’ Diane. She replied, BTW. I had sent the same letter by email with no reply. I trhink mebbe they’re a bit technophobic and also they see email as quickie-easy stuff where they figger a paper letter required more effort on the sender’s part so they must think it’s more important. They’re still living in the 20th century, sez I.

Whooee! Well fellers an’ gals, I got sum news that relates t’ this here topic. Yesterday afternoon (4:51 pm), I emailed the gal I adore, Earth Mother Lizzie May. Ol’ JimBobby used his usual dialect an’ didn’t send in James Robert with all his big words an’ proper grammar. I never emailed Lizzie before.

At 11:40 last night, Lizzie May sent JimBob an email response. It was from her, persoanlly, an’ from her ISP email account an’ not the GPC mailbox I’d sent to.

I ain’t gonna divulge what we wrote t’ one another but I am gonna say my opinion o’ Lizzie went up another notch.

On the Diane-Finley-rides-limo’s-like-Mick-Jagger front… our local rag has picked up the story an’ Diane’s doin’ her dangedest t’ deflect criticism. That’s off-topic, so I won’t yammer any more ’bout it here.
