It really seems that with so many topics these days, there is no room for an intelligent discussion of facts. Instead, positions are carefully crafted in sound bites, media coaches are hired and spin abounds just in time for the media to arrive with cameras and microphones to suck it all up and broadcast it to the world. The Jesus Family Tomb “controversy” is but the latest example.

I really have to wonder if it is the government’s job to fight Canadian obesity, and if it is, is spending $15,000,000,000.00 on recreation facilities the way to do it?

It seems that the CPoC has contracted out some sort of electoral reform project, the Minister responsible is Mr. Peter Van Loan (MP York-Simcoe), his email address is VanLoan.P@parl.gc.ca. I’ve already written his office asking about the process and the schedule, I’ll post his reply when it is received, but sending the man an email of your own to show that your interested in commenting on the mess wouldn’t hurt.

In Italy the Prime Minister resigns when he loses a major foreign policy vote, in America there is no such admission of failure to achieve support for major foreign policy decisions.

One of the common themes that the Bush administration followed after Iraq went wrong was that the violence was to be expected, Iraq was a magnet, dragging the terrorists away from other worldwide pursuits – according to the numbers compiled by Mother Jones that isn’t the case.
