So if we’re not peacekeepers, can people stop asking “Bush” to do something about Darfur?

Believe me… Nothing would make me happier than having those pompous asses kicked out of my city. They drive like assholes, park like assholes, and do whatever they want because they have diplomatic immunity.

Scumbags, the lot of ‘em.

Unfortunately, they just decided to do a great service to mankind by approving billions of dollars in funding to fix up the building they work in, so I highly doubt we’re gonna see any exit from the US anytime soon.

I’m not saying disband the UN, I’m just saying I wouldn’t shed a tear if they moved out of New York. I’m sure I’m not alone in this city when I say that.

You can always tell the people who live here and deal with them and their arrogance (I’ve had my share of run-ins with people who thereafter got into Diplo cars) and those who don’t. The ones who don’t think we’re all just petty cry babies. The ones who do wish the ones who don’t could live here for a bit and experience it for themselves.

So then am I so ridiculous in saying I don’t care if the UN moves?

It’s an organization that is nothing but a leech on this city.

I could care less about how the politicians and diplomats attending the UN conduct themselves on the sidewalk, or whether or not cars with red plates are double parked the entire length of every street within a 5 block radius of the building - what is important is how the location of the facility is used as a political propaganda tool.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard “those ungrateful bastards should be glad we let them occupy our space” (or words to that effect) whenever either the UN proper, or the UN Security Council, does something that Americans don’t like I certainly wouldn’t have to worry about hosting costs - for this lifetime or the next.

In another set of discussions it is difficult to argue that the UN does not have some serious credibility issues to deal with, those issues are not in any way helped by the UN’s current location - do everybody a favour and move it out of the country.
