That’s how the Bush administration reacted to the news that Saddam Hussein had lost his death sentence appeal.
this is an important day for the Iraqi people.
– said White House deputy press secretary Scott Stanzel.
Personally hanging is too good for Hussein.
Having said that, there continues to be much a-do about the almost 3,000 American service men and service women killed in Iraq over the last 4 years, unless my memory fails me completely that’s a number that the Iraqis suffered in one month - I think it will be a far more important day when average Iraqi people are able to walk down the street without fear of being turned into red stuff on a rock.

My litmus test for the death sentence is “could I pull the switch?”
I’m okay with the sentence being upheld - however, calling it an “important day” is a bit over the top IMHO.
