Our Beloved Leader is planning a second wave of climate-change program cuts and wants public servants to help him sell the idea by explaining to us why their jobs shouldn’t exist.
Ask me that sort of question and I can give you reasons for everything from why churches shouldn’t be tax exempt, to why the Internet and cable TV shouldn’t be available to everyone in Canada, to why I shouldn’t be allowed to have a blog - but that’s completely backwards thinking isn’t it.
If Harper is concerned with spending money on programs like this, or is concerned about their effectiveness, shouldn’t he be asking for reasons that justify their continued existance to both the government and the public, who is footing the bill for their work, instead requiring that they come up with reasons why they should be unemployed?

I would write: I think I should be fired because my government doesn’t understand the science behind global warming, and is more interested in the $10.7 billion profits gain of the petroleum and coal industry than they are silly notions of snow melting in the Arctic.
