Election campaigning south of the border has now apparently reached the level of full body contact, can full body contact elections, or at the very least a reality TV series, be far behind?

Reports are surfacing that the guy getting dragged out was a blogger, Mike Stark, who was asking the wrong questions. Perhaps this Mike Stark?
Ah yes, land of the free and free speech.
I can’t seem to load the video, have tried on 3 different computers now, and no luck.
Can I find it anywhere else? What is it?
Ya gotta be missing a plugin somewhere throbbin, I just checked it and it loaded fine.
The roughed-up citizen journalist has a letter to the editor. It’s a good read. Here’s the conclusion:
“I spent four years in the Marine Corps. I’ll be damned if I’ll let my country be taken from me by thugs that are afraid of taking responsibility for themselves.
It just isn’t the America I know and love. Somebody needs to take a stand against those that would bully and intimidate their fellow citizens. That stand begins right here, right now.
W. Michael Stark”

Video loaded up fine in IE…weird. Must be because it’s MSNBC.
Cool video, a shame they didn’t show more of the video, and too bad there was no audio.
The letter Mr. Stark wrote was very good also - hard to argue with his credentials as a Marine. Not looking good for Allen, is it?
I say we let the candidates duke it out. It would be entertaining, in a Roman Empire sort of way. If that gets boring, we could always put them in an arena with a lion. If either survived that would be the newly elected.
I like the way you think Cait, put it on national TV and let everybody watch.
Given that, for reasons that escape me, the bigger politicians up here try and emulate the bigger politicians down there, it’s an idea that would eventually get to our national propaganda station for prime time.
– Harper would no doubt kick the 5h1t out of Layton but I think Duceppe might surprise a few people…. we couldn’t trust the Liberals at this point, they have no leader and would probably just put the biggest guy at the convention in a mask and red cape in the ring as “the unknown leader”…. the Greens would probably come out on top, which of the other leaders is gonna hit Elizabeth May on TV?
Nope, gotta scrap that idea, we don’t want the Greens running the show, they have great environmental policy but their social stuff is fugly as sin…. guess that leaves us with a benevolent dictatorship lead by the bunker as the only reasonable option.
– but y’all knew that already didn’t ya?
That’s a pretty good idea, but try this one out.
Why don’t we just put each party through the MXC challenges?
For those of you not familiar with MXC, check out - it’s a video of Paul Martin during the last Liberal leadership contest, followed closely by the last Federal election.
Throbbin, I like the idea, but the boulders need to be real. I say we make all of Congress go through the MXC challenge.
As far as having women candidates, in that case, the other party would have to pick a woman contestant to do the physical challenge - someone of roughly the same age and type of sedentary occupation.
Hey, between Bush & Kerry, who do you think would have won an all-out brawl? I can’t decide. I’m guessing Bush would have fought dirty and Kerry would have tried to stick to boxing rules. Sort a a Marquis de Sade vs Marquis de Queensbury thing.

Full contact is possible but I think the first logical extension of the level of discourse south of the border would arm wrestling or tobaccy spittin contests. Time will tell.
