– and guess which unelected, CPoC appointed, unaccountable to the people, Cabinet Minister who said he would seek a seat in a by-election is not running in either of them?

Whooee! I think Devon’s right. But I also remember sumpin’ ’bout Canadee’s Noo Gummint bein’ accountable. How’s it accountable when unelected numbnutses get cabinet seats? Is Fortier accountable to anybuddy? Who? Nobuddy voted’m in an’ nobuddy can vote’m out.
At least Earth Mother Lizzie May’s got sum intestinal fortitude.

I seem to recall phrases like “at the first opportunity” being bandied about in answer to those who questioned why he who we have come to know as our Beloved Leader would give an unelected friend of the party a seat in the Senate so that he could also give him a large portfolio….. an interesting little loop hole that resulted in the Minister of PW&S not having to actually sit in the House and answer/explain his decisions or the actions of his department — maybe I’m wrong.
Harpers timing is in fact very suspect, and the CPoC ‘there are important matters at hand and people deserve representation’ justification rings hollow; if it had been that important a matter to them, and they really cared about the riding, the by-election for the Quebec seat would have been held in September instead of late November. Why would he want to fill an empty seat when it might have been filled by a Liberal | NDP | BQ vote against him in the House for a few months.
The new is like the old, political buddies and helpers getting the posh jobs, and muddying the electorial waters as much as possible for maximum benefit to the party.
– none of them are to be trusted.

I’ve read your views on QP here and elsewhere: would it make a difference if he sat in the House?

To be fair to Fortier, didn’t he promise to run in the next general election? Although I could be mistaken.
The real kicker is that the Tories are running these on November 27th to disrupt the Liberal leadership convention. No other reason. And if that means that there will be a municipal and a federal election campaign going on in London (which is unprecedented, as far as I know), so be it, according to Harper.
Class.
