No Other Opinions Wanted

Garth Turner just got the boot, poor man, didn’t he know that within the party having an opinion is a bad thing? Don’t look for his blog, it was gone when I checked. [h/t: Gwylim]

My favourite line in the press release:

‘The Prime Minister’s office denied any involvement in Mr. Turner’s removal from the caucus.”

Right. The most obsessive Prime Ministerial micromanager in living memory, who dictates what key every member of his caucus may fart in, had no involvement in this decision.

What a fucking bunch of liars.

Yep, all those election pronouncements on changing government; all the propoganda spinning now about “Canada’s New Government”. Same old story.

  3. Chimera on October 18th, 2006 at 2:30 pm

Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn.

The most open and honest MP in the current government just got toasted.

Harper’s a fucking liar. He’s also top o’ the heap on my stack of virtual briquettes. Anybody got a match?

  4. Chimera on October 18th, 2006 at 2:45 pm

By th’ way — the blog and the rest of Garth’s site are not gone — his server crashed under the weight of all the traffic following the announcement. He’ll be back up shortly.

Dunno know too much about the guy, but anyone, even a Conservative, gets my judos for having the balls the trash talk this PM.

How many weeks you give him before he joins the Libs?

  6. JimBobby on October 18th, 2006 at 3:05 pm

Whooee! Talk is, GarthBoy might be joinin’ the Greens. Good move if it happens, sez I.

Although I am a Liberal, I think that would be neat. It would draw attention to environmental issues in the house in a way none of the other parties has.

    >What a fucking bunch of liars.

Nice rant. Why not wait for proof?

  9. balbulican on October 18th, 2006 at 3:38 pm

    Proof of what, precisely?

  10. Chimera on October 18th, 2006 at 3:38 pm

lrC: What kind of proof are you looking for?

I’m actually hoping Garth pulls a Chuck Cadman and goes Independent. Talk about sitting in the catbird seat!

  11. lrC on October 18th, 2006 at 4:52 pm

Proof that the PM had a hand in the Ontario caucus’s decision.

  12. Chimera on October 18th, 2006 at 5:12 pm

“Will no one rid me of this turbulent MP?”

Nobody could prove anything against Henry II, either.

    Duh.

  13. Adrian MacNair on October 18th, 2006 at 7:25 pm

Why Independent? Perhaps the Green Party could use him.

  14. Ti-Guy on October 18th, 2006 at 8:22 pm

Proof that the PM had a hand in the Ontario caucus’s decision.

Like proof of photos from Reuters, right?

    …asshole.

wow – good thing stageleft isn’t a political party, as having a dissenting opinion results in… real positive discourse like:

    “as*hole”

    “f*cking bunch of liars”

    etc

sorry if I don’t march in lockstep and want to wait for all the info.

  16. balbulican on October 18th, 2006 at 9:13 pm

Oh, please, Candace. Revisit your posts from November-December 2005 and parse them for “real positive discourse” about the Liberals.

Our Conservative friends are collectively entitled to believe whatever they want. They believed that Stephen Harper was going to usher in a new era of openness, transparency and accountability. Snort.

In that light, they can continue to believe that a party leader with a long standing reputation for micromanagement and iron control of his caucus and cabinet had nothing to do with the dismissal of a high profile MP from the Ont. Caucus – that highly visible rebuke was undertaken without Harper’s awareness.

You really can assert that with straight face? Seriously??

  17. Ti-Guy on October 18th, 2006 at 9:39 pm

wow – good thing stageleft isn’t a political party, as having a dissenting opinion results in… real positive discourse like:

Candace, revisit IrC’s incredulity regarding the images captured by mainstream media during the latest Israel/Arab conflict.

As for bad language…get used to it.

Post #1: The current government is just like the old one.

post #2: See, the election made no difference.

Post #3: All the parties are just the same.

Post #4: The CPC is identical to the Liberals blah blah blah

Hey look! I can blog like Stageleft!

  19. Jeff on October 19th, 2006 at 9:37 am

Garth was kicked out of the CPC for bad mouthing eht nat1ves.

  20. Throbbin on October 19th, 2006 at 10:20 am

You think so Jeff? I would be very interested in reading something credible about that, if it’s not absolute malarchy you are making up to disturb some shit around here.

  21. balbulican on October 19th, 2006 at 11:02 am

I believe he means those native to the Reform Party.

I just watched Garths video message to his constituents, it’s pretty clear what the CPoC party problem with him is, as he states, his political masters, and the political party, come second to his constituents — you simply cannot hold principled views like that and survive within any party.
