– the front page of The Sun is about the marital problems of Ti Domi, it’s either that or it’s evidence that there are people out there with such small pathetic lives that the maritial problems of Ti Domi somehow gives what they do meaning. Which is it?

I have say, I cant decide what i’m more surprised at. The fact the Domi and Belinda Stronach are an item, or that Stageleft hasn’t spewed forth a viscious tirade over the fact that the media is showing this instead of dead bodies in iraq. Something like “It’s the evil west, creating a sideshow, in order to deflect attention from the middle east.”
I think these kinds of things just make people feel better about themselves. Now, they can call into all the talk radio shows, write on their blogs, and write letters to the editor, what bad people these two supposedly are, and how, by contrast, how moral and great they are.
I also think that the conservatives and their bloggers are loving this - they will do anything to rip on Belinda. She’s Canada’s Bill Clinton so to speak. What we never hear them talk about, however, is all those conservatives caught up in sex scandals (Bill O’Reilly anyone?).
I’ve been trying for years (since ‘way before Clinton, Lewinsky, and the blue dress) to figure out why the sex lives of public figures are the subjects of such intense curiosity on the part of the rabble.
As if regular citizens don’t have enough of their own sex lives. And/or problems with them.
Why is this anyone’s business except for the people directly involved? I mean, is national security at stake, or something?

Door number three…Newspapers sell advertising and don’t need to provide information that’s relevant to our lives. Frankly, they should just go all hard-core porn and drop the pretense of serious journalism altogether.
