The amount of SPAM the filters is catching has passed the point of stupidity, at one point scrolling through a few hundred attempts in either the SPAM trap or moderation pen every couple of days to see if anything legit had been caught was reasonable - the numbers are way up from that and it’s hundreds [and hundreds] per day now so we’re going proactive as opposed to reactive.
Many of the SPAM attempts are coming from behind open proxy servers designed to mask the SPAMmers so in order to try and stem the tide we’ve turned on the “Blacklist comments from open and insecure proxies” Word Press feature.
This means that if you operate from behind an open or insecure proxy comments will be deleted as opposed to held in moderation or marked as potential SPAM — if your comments get trashed send me an email [there’s an email link on the menu] and we’ll try and work something out.
If you do not operate from behind an open or insecure proxy and your comments do not appear send me an email and we’ll work something out.
In other news the Internet folks didn’t get their thing done yesterday so the new bunker remains digitally isolated from the outside world - that should change this afternoon if all goes well and we’ll have a bunker type connection again.

test - I ain’t behind an open or insecure proxy
