A couple of days ago Stageleft reported the heartening story of a partnership between Muslim and Jewish communities in Newfoundland and Labrador to fundraise victims of the conflict in the Middle East. Money raised will be donated to two sister organizations of the Red Cross - the Red Crescent and the Red Star of David.

That’s an initiative worth supporting. I normally contribute directly to the Red Cross: but this time I’m going to route my contribution through this group to let them know that their gesture hasn’t gone unnoticed outside Newfoundland.
