He’s Only 1/2 Right

Tony Blair said that

“The blunt reality is that this violence is not going to stop unless we create the conditions for the cessation of violence.”

He’s right about that, but he only goes half-way with what those conditions are, those being

……sending an international force into the area that can “stop the bombardment over into Israel and therefore gives Israel a reason to stop its attacks on Hezbollah.”

See? Half right.

The real blunt reality is that unless a heavily armed international force steps between this bunch of idiots with the authority to put bullets into anyone that crosses the line or breaks a cease fire the violence will continue and innocent men, women, and children will continue to die.

Interesting how “Israel quickly rejected the idea” when offered a possible means of halting rocket-attacks into its territory.

I guess it depends on the overall Israeli agenda doesn’t it?

No it won’t solve anything. It will only complicate things. The best solution is the one Israel is proposing; that the Lebanese Army take control of southern Lebanon and secure their own border. The disarming of Hezbollah benefits Lebanon even more than it benefits Israel.

  4. Ti-Guy on July 17th, 2006 at 8:21 pm

That could trigger a civil war.

Not disarming Hezbollah could trigger an international war, if it hasn’t already. Which do you prefer?

I have to make a choice?

    Cheers sir!

And to IrC, disarm BOTH sides. The Israeli’s have proved time and time again that their’s is not a Defense Force. Some one needs to stop the children from killing those who wish to live in peace. Take all the war planes from the sky and all the armed men and women from the border, except those there to keep the peace.

How far outside Israel and Lebanon do you propose to extend that cloak of disarmament?

  9. stageleft on July 18th, 2006 at 3:06 pm

Disarming is not the answer, putting people with guns in between the parties with orders to shoot transgressors is.

  10. Throbbin on July 18th, 2006 at 3:46 pm

Yeah, I like your idea SL. Heck, maybe even some Canadians!!! Isn’t that kinda what we USED to do?

  11. Sean Pelette on July 18th, 2006 at 6:26 pm

Disarming is not the answer, putting people with guns in between the parties with orders to shoot transgressors is.

But then you’re only legitimizing Hezbollah’s position as a state within a state. How does that help the Lebanese? How does that reduce the foreign (Iran and Syria) meddling in Lebanese affairs?

  12. balbulican on July 18th, 2006 at 6:28 pm

“How does that help the Lebanese?”

Ummm…that would be, as opposed to bombing their cities?

  13. Ti-Guy on July 18th, 2006 at 7:17 pm

How does that help the Lebanese?

How come, all of a sudden, has helping the Lebanese become an issue? Since the Invasion, it seems no one’s been caring much about the Lebanese.

Nice one guys. Avoid answering the question. How does that help debate?

  15. Ti-Guy on July 19th, 2006 at 1:21 pm

Who’s debating? I certainly am not.
