It is really doubtful that any of the proposals on the table, including this one, will really make much of a difference in the Mexican immigration issue that has much of the United States all-a-flutter. The sheer number of people in question precludes any simplistic solution from working. Instead of encouraging more recent ”illegals” to apply for visas, this proposal should have the effect of fostering an even more robust sub-economy of illegal workers and immigrants. The problem, I think, is that tens of thousands of Americans like having cheap nannies, housekeepers, dishwashers, labourers etc. etc. at their fingertips. As long as that demand exists, there will be illegal immigrants to fill the positions even with Minutemen, the National Guard, and fences across the southern States. Â

Pence is obviosly deluded, the idea that 12 million people are gonna pack their kit ‘n git into a line to come back in is daft in the extreme; for that to work there would have to be a measure of trust in the government that just doesn’t seem to be there.
… and the American people and businesses who have more money in their pockets because of them certainly aren’t going to be rushing to call the authorities either.
