What happens when governments dither? People on all sides get upset and do things they would not normally do.
Up to 100 OPP officers were called out last night to separate a native blockade of a local road from angry residents fed up with the eight-week occupation.
A crowd of as many as 500 residents surged against the police line about 9 p.m. on Argyle Street South, just north of the native blockade. A few hundred more stood on the sidelines and watched the crowd taunt the police and the native protesters.
The federal government bears full responsibility for this mess, hopefully they have decent clean-up skills, if they don’t there is a lot of potential for a lot of nastiness that they will also bear full responsibility for.
I am interested in learning why these non-native folks took to the streets. I am not sure, but I don’t think that the blockade is hampering anyone from getting to work or going about their daily routine, so why the sudden “Support the developer” furor?
I have a sneaking suspicion of my own, but it is far too cynical to accept this early on.
