A trigger happy bunch of US cowboys soldiers took pot shots at a car Canadian diplomats in Iraq were in for the heinous crime of passing them.

Dear US Military, FYI:

(1) Shot first, ask questions later, ain’t gonna win you any friends, from anywhere.

(2) Shooting at your friends is gonna cost you your friends, whether you manage to actually kill them or not.

(2) Canadians like to drive fast, putting bullets through the windshield and shooting the engine out of our cars is really poor form, if you see us coming and can’t keep up move over already.

(3) When you wave your hands at Canadians chances are we’re gonna wave back. If we know ya we might stop and chew the fat for a bit, if we don’t know ya we’ll probably just wave back and keep going, we’re a friendly lot that way, get with the program will ya?

(Magrinal) Humour aside, this latest friendly fire incident, and the fact that it took place inside the “US Green Zone”, is a sign of just how shakey security really is in Iraq as well as the levels of insecurity the US military feels within the country.

Bush can speak as many volumes on the subject as it wants but, as this, and other news articles indicate, rhetoric and reality are vastly different things.
