Two RCMP members who choked an Inuk from Pangnirtung into unconsciousness and took him to jail after entering his house without a warrant won’t be disciplined because, according to the head of the Nunavut RCMP,
…..disciplinary action is not what’s required to correct the mistakes made by Constables Shawn Devine and Richard White as they arrested Darryl Qaqasiq in 2003.
So that’s what they’re calling it these days - a mistake, worth nothing more than a refresher course in “police principles and guidelines” and an apology that really means nothing.

I know I view everything from strictly an aboriginal point of view, I cant help it (Im an Inuk).
But, for the sake of argument, if this was an Inuk RCMP officer, and he did this to a white guy, can you imagine the backlash and anger that would ensue?
In the north we get way too much of this crap. And because RCMP officers regularly transfer in and out of Nunavut, and this case illustrates just how long it can take to get “justice”, too many of these overzealous cops get away with it.
