– if you must, and you have even an ounce of humanity in you, go alone, please people, this is important, do not inflict it on others you care about.
It is the new release of King Kong, and it’s not even, IMO, worth the price of a DVD rental sometime down the road. The story line is weak, the acting is mediocre, and most of the scenes are way to long and over done– really, the first couple of minutes of the dinosaur stampede was cool, but it was way too long and they over did it, the first couple of minutes of the great dinosaur wreck was cool, but it was way too long and they over did it, the killer insect scene was cool for the first couple of minutes, but…. you see where I’m going with this don’t you? The whole friggen movie was like that.
I kid thee not, a collective groan went up from the audience as Kong strolled through the xmas trees in a park, discovered ice, and played, and slid around on it with what’s her name in his hand…. for far too damned long. The climbing of the building was expected, the planes were expected, Kong getting shot was expected — but it took far too damned long.
At one point a young woman in the audience not far from where I was sitting said “Jesus, just die already will you!!”….. not the response they were hoping for I’m sure.
I blame it on “The Lord of the Rings”, epics like that are hard to top, but, as with the latest Star Wars release, the studios are trying - and they are failing.
King Kong gets 1 star out of 5 from the basement bunker - three hours is way too long, save your money, wait until someone gives it to you for xmas next year.

Not to worry. I never had the least intention of going to see this. Has anyone seen “Memoirs of a Geisha”? If so, what is your opinion of it? And did you read the book before you saw the movie. I want to go see the movie, but don’t know when I’ll get to it.
