A very interesting piece of video (WMV format) about a possible Finance Department leak last week was received in at Bunker Central tonight from stageleft regular Peter. In a segment on Mike Duffy Live concerning the income trust information possibly being leaked, forensic accountant Al Rosen stated that he was between a 75% and 85% certain that Bay Street had inside info, and that the potential for someone to make millions with that info was definately there.
It is hard not to notice that Duffy had people from the NDP and the CPoC on his panel to give their respective takes on this, but that there was no Liberal face at the table, odd, don’t you think? Could it be that:
(a) Duffy didn’t invite them to comment. (Speculation in the bunker, and beyond, is that the chances of this are pretty slim - the opportunity for some high political drama and a good old fashioned one-air NDP/CPoC tag team against the Liberals is too great for that.)
(b) Duffy did invite the Liberals and they declined. (Speculation in the bunker, and beyond, is that this is the more likely scenario.)
If the Liberals were not invited to speak on this they have every right to be mad as hell, if they were invited to sit on the panel, and declined to put in an appearance, Liberal Party HQ had no entitlement to dig out their Blackberry units and text message faceless rebuttals to Duffy during his segment - that is just plain lame.

I go with (b) and I agree, it is ludicrous. Although Duffy seemed to be having a wonderful time with it. When McLellan & MacKay were going at it tonite on Countdown it was “discussed” (McLellan accusing the CPC of a smear campaign, MacKay calling bull - unfortunately, no clip) in tandem with discussing the “prosecutor” proposition (McLellan accusing the CPC of slurring the RCMP’s good name blah blah blah, MacKay calling bull and mentioning Shawinigate)… They really needed Peter Miliken to smack them both down.
