I really don’t like “blogs” that don’t allow responses. It seems annoying gutless to me. Part of the fun of this whole scene is the exchange.
However, Andrew’s insidious CanConv, despite its horrific name, occasionally draws me, against my will, kicking and screaming, to sites whose denizens do not allow comments.
One such site, which shall remain nameless because I do not choose to promote the gutless, carried the following question.
” CBC Newsworld’s Canada Now “news” program this evening featured a report by CBC editorializer reporter Eric Sorensen in which a clip is shown of Stephen Harper answering the question posed above.
Nice.
(snip)
Why is an employee of a publicly-funded state broadcaster asking the Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition whether or not he “loves” the country he is attempting to lead?”
Well, I can answer that. The same point was made satirically earlier on this site, but the real answer is this: because a rather large number of Stephen Harper’s supporter seem to support the separation of Alberta from Canada.
Next question, gutless one?

There is the preception that Stephen Harper does not actually “love” Canada in its present state and that if we became more like America he would be a lot happier.
Some of his rhetoric supports that perception, his support of things like the US BMD system also promotes the idea, and even policy statements like changing federal elections to a “date certain” every 4 years like the Americans support that perception.
I have no doubt that Stephen Harper, and the rest of the CPoC, do love Canada - they are in the unfortunate position of being a minority group holding a different vision from the majority of what our country should be.
