In the pro-war camps’ never ending quest to find someone other than the war president to blame for insurgent attacks and global anti-American feelings look for them to now blame the ACLU (again) and the courts.
You may recall a while back that a military judge (surprise surprise) blocked publication of a series of photos and videos showing even more incidents of prisoners being tortured and abused at Abu Ghraib - today a federal US judge rejected Whitehouse arguments that the new images would provoke terrorists and incite violence against US troops in Iraq stating that terrorists
“do not need pretexts for their barbarism”
– as he ordered the release of 74 images and three videos.
In the interests of getting the the bunker letter writing out of the way early so we can concentrate on how the (Right)WingNuts spin this tomorrow:
Dear Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Neil Boortz, Michael Savage, Bill O’Reilly, Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter, etc, etc, etc…..
Blaming the ACLU and/or the US federal court judge who has agreed with them for what may well follow the release of these images and videos is a significant, not to mention spineless and pathetic, cop out.
Neither the ACLU nor the US federal courts have beaten prisoners to death in Abu Ghraib, neither have they tortured or abused any prisoners at Abu Ghraib, nor have they acted out any (possibly) previously unfulfilled sexual fantasies with prisoners at Abu Ghraib.
These acts were carried out by amoral barbarian men and women wearing US military uniforms, and responsibility for those acts lies squarely on the shoulders of those who committed them, and the officers, systems, and War on TerrorTM fanaticism, that neither prevented them from carrying them out nor punished them when they did.
As has been proven time and time again you cannot, in this day and age, hope to hide atrocities and war crimes of this nature from the world simply because you, in your red white and blue jammies under a star spangled quit, lay awake and afraid in the night, of what may happen, or how you and your country will be viewed, when they see the light of day.
The basement bunker is not completely unsympathetic to your plight, we feel for you, truly we do….. for while it has often been said that we have nothing to fear but fear itself, your case is slightly different, you have the truth to fear as well.
Sincerly
Stageleft and the
Basement Bunker

This is crap, I hate blaming the ACLU. When can I blame the French again?
