There is little to no talk in the MSM about the British soldiers in civilian soldiers with bomb making gear who were caught by the Iraqi police and then busted out of jail by a British tank – it apparently wouldn’t be the first time the Brits have used this type of tactic.

Politicians are always difficult to understand, and the further up the ladder they get the more difficult it becomes – take this article in the Globe & Mail where Martin says we need to develop more aggressive foreign policy, strive for a “peace economy”, and then goes on to talk about economic opportunities in China.

Ian got me thinking about mandatory voting for a bit this morning, it didn’t take very long to come to the conclusion that it’s a really bad idea.

The story of Walter Wolfgang is interesting not because he was ejected from a Labour Party conference for disagreeing with the party line, but rather because the world was allowed to see it happen.

Personally I thought My Blagh was doing a pretty darned good job at the Canadian blog award thing – apparently small dead animals think they need their own.

In the pro-war camps’ never ending quest to find someone other than the war president to blame for insurgent attacks and global anti-American feelings look for them to now blame the ACLU (again) and the courts.

I’ve heard a ton today about the defeat of CPoC MP Rick Casson’s bill to increase the age of sexual consent in Canada, personally I think it’s little more than a cheap propaganda ploy to make the government of the day look like a bunch of amoral dolts – hopefully other Canadians are smart enough to see it for what it is.

According to an article in the NY Times Three former members of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division say soldiers in their battalion in Iraq routinely beat and abused prisoners in 2003 and 2004 to help gather intelligence on the insurgency and to amuse themselves. – no real news here, the US military has been doing this since Afghanistan. The larger question is how have they been getting away with the regular practice of torture and abuse?
