Jim Stanford seems to think that we should (a) give our notice to the US on NAFTA, and then (b) negotiate a new deal - our question is, “What makes him think they would live up to their end of a new deal any better than they’ve lived up to their end in this one?”

The United States of America has shown that it cannot be trusted so why bother with a trade agreement at all at this point? There are other markets for our exports, maybe not as close, maybe not as convenient, but they are there and, regardless of what the whingers and hand wringers may say - we will not go hungry if agreement is canned.

….. and before we hear any of that, ‘but they’re our friends and neighours’ nonsense ask yourself — if you can’t trust your friend and neighbour just how good a friend and neighbour are they?
