I don’t think that the recent hurricane should be considered a lesson to anyone in particular, I do think it should be considered a significant “wake up call” to everyone.
That more and more extreme weather has been occuring as the planet and the oceans warm up there is little doubt, that man is totally responsible is a myth….. but that man is a significant contributing factor there would appear to be little doubt.
Thousands of places, countries, and islands (including the south eastern United States) are very vunerable to flooding caused by rising seas and violent storms - at some point in the not too distant future they will become uninhabitable regardless of what we as a species do today, or even over the next 100 years.
The question is, what are we as a species willing to do to try and ensure that even more regions of the planet do not become uninhabitable?

I am no expert SL, but according to at least one “expert” from CNN, a climatologist on the tele yesterday, the occurance of more hurricanes this year has nothing to do with global warming but a cyclical system of weather paterns converging (or something along those lines). Warmer oceans add to the intensity of the storms but are not responsible for an increase in their number. At least according to this fella anyway. Take it for what it is worth.
