The Iranian judiciary has said that human rights abuses have been taking place in the country’s jails. What I find most interesting about this is that Belling is quite willing to consider blindfolding and beatings in Iraq as torture.A report drafted over several months says prison guards have ignored a legal order banning the use of torture by blindfolding and beating detainees.
Does that make him a traitor to the “there is no torture in US military prisons” crowd - I mean that shite (and lots of other creative stuff that isn’t “real torture”tm) is fairly standard fare at Camp Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, and other places…. or does it just make him another right-wing hypocrite?
He also hopes that this is gonna be the start of a trend of international admissions of torture and abuse; I wonder if he considers that just maybe it should include his own government?
