Awh….. Cheney is offended is he? Offended because an international organization called the Bush administration on its ‘few bad apples’ line and decided to report on torture and abuse at the hands of the U.S. military as what it is - torture and abuse…. and for coming right out and saying, in a loud clear voice, that the United States of America is a violator of human rights he has also decided not to take Amnesty International seriously.

Too darned bad for ‘ole uncle Dickie ain’t it? I wonder if he ever wonders how many people take him seriously, and if that number grew or fell off after after his little TV appearance? In actual fact he probably doesn’t give a rats 4$$ - his sort usually doesn’t. Cheney can deny American wrong doing at Guantanamo Bay until the cows come home, he can repeat the mantra of prisoners of war detainees being “well-treated, treated humanely and decently” until hell freezes over, and he can talk about U.S. good works until he’s blue in the face - and none of it will change the situation one little bit. The simple fact of the matter is that good deeds on one hand do not excuse atrocities on the other - if they did there would be a lot less people sitting in federal prisons now wouldn’t there?

“…perfectly appropriately” is how the little man from Lincoln, Nebraska (I bet the good folks there shudder when people mention that ‘hey?) describes the goings on at Guantanamo Bay, and calling allegations of torture and abuse “absurd” is how George W. “I’m a war president and we found the weapons of mass destruction” Bush has decided to attack the problem. Those of you who voted the Republican ticket can be proud of your leadership, really, I think you should be… it takes a lot of balls, very big balls as a matter of fact, to try and kick The Big Lie into gear in an age where information flows around the world in the blink of an eye — yet there they are, trying their damndest to make it stick.

Do expect all the good little (Right)WingNuts to parrot these phrases for the rest of the week, also expect the Bush Backers to spread the good news that Amnesty International is an organization not to take seriously, that the very idea that U.S. military forces acting anything other than perfectly appropriately is completely absurd, and that anyone who tries to say different is a lying, American hating, terrorist loving, insurgent supporting, communist, who can’t see past the documented evidence and photographs of torture and abuse their hate for president Bush.
