It’s one step at a time for a group trying to raise awareness about continuing problems with suicide amongst first nation youth. Participants with the annual Youth Suicide Prevention Walk made a brief stop in Thunder Bay this weekend on their way to Ottawa.
This is the third year for the cross Canada trek. Participants began in Duncan B.C. in late March and travel about 140 kilometers a day. Organizers say the walk is very taxing psychologically and physically for the eight participants . President of the Walk, Vincent Watts says it’s all worth it, because they are getting their message out.
The group expects to make it to the nations capital on June 21st for National Aboriginal Day.
