Good for him

Frank McKenna, Canada’s new ambassador to the U.S., has challenged the New York Times for saying in a recent editorial that terrorists often travel south across the Canadian border.
Could it be that we’ve got someone will an actual, physical, pair of decent sized, political gonads in that position now? The Editor of the NY Times came out with the following
“Suspected terrorists have long been entering the country from Canada,”
Long? Shocking? Really now?

Dear Editor of the NY Times,

Admittedly it has been a while now, and given the current climate down there it will be a considerable while yet, but if I recall correctly the last time I entered the United States of America I had to stop at the US border inspection station - not the Canadian one, something you should be aware of even if your American readership is not.

Unless that little procedure has changed, and if suspected terrorists have in fact been entering the US from Canada, possibly you should be directing your (did you consider them scathing?) comments towards a different set of people — because these suspected terrorists have obviously been getting passed your eagle eye authorities on the way in.

Sincerely
Stageleft

Maybe they should just build a wall, now, now, I can hear your complaints already, but don’t discount the idea until you’ve heard me out. If the people that they are unable to stop from crossing their borders are causing them such problems a big ‘ole cement wall about 2 metres thick and 4 metres tall, topped with spikes, barbed wire, radar, sonar, infrared, and machine gun tot’en homeboys who firmly believe that the whole world really does hate them, might make them feel better — at the very least it would keep them shut up about how their problems are because everybody else is so damned lax…. don’t you think that in itself would be worth every bit of inconvenience the shadow their wall would cast on our country for part of the day?
