A while back in our Revising the Spin post we noted that the Bush administration did not consider the goings on in places like Abu Grabu, Guantanamo Bay, and other many and varied American prison facilities in foreign lands “real torture”(tm) unless internal organs failed, some bodily function was impaired, or the person died.
The Pentagon has now officially admitted to
six prisoner deaths caused by abuse
- so there we have it, torture, as defined by the Bush administration, at the hands of American military personel….. but they’re not calling it that; they’re calling it “acts of criminal homicide”. It’s pretty obvious at this point that there are no limits to official American hypocrisy, and they disgust me every bit as much as any other government that practices torture or covers up for those of their own who engage in it.
