SL, it appears that the new tactic that is coming out of right wing pundits South of the border in relation to Canada (which is not new at all in the broader sense), is that they plan to shame and bully us (and anyone else who ain’t diggin the act) into supporting the Bush Administration. I have heard Ann Coulter snidely make reference to the “french” element in Canada, suggesting that we were cowards, Bill O’Reilly has been on his high horse suggesting that Canadians are a slothful lot - too dependent on an entitlement culture. Tucker Carlson comments are the latest.

We have seen these kinds of tactics for months and months being applied to every nation or individual who dared not to stand shoulder to shoulder with Dubya. Guess, what, it was bound to come our way sooner or later. I am not going to take it personally; that is exactly the result they are looking for.

The Americans that are influenced by such words will forget Canada’s existence as soon as the rabid dogs begin barking at their next target. Worry more about the Canadians who feel the need to please their southern neighbor by moving the country to the right.

Why get steamed? Because there are far too many dolts who parrot the inane mutterings of people like Carkson while wringing their hands and crying out about chaos and national beggary without actually bothering to do any sort of research at all themselves…… the simple fact that an American said out loud and on CNN that “Canada needs the United States but the United States does not need Canada” seems to be enough for them.

As much as it drives me nuts I do expect that sort of propaganda out of the mouths of Carkson, Coulter, O’Reilly, and their ilk - they are, after all, well paid to act, and make other Americans feel, superior - out of the mouths of Canadian sheeple it’s too much to take.

Very simple web research shows us that there is considerable economic interdependency in a number of sectors that the Americans depend very heavily upon and the idea that this is a one way deal is just about as stupid as the people who buy into it…… possibly the likes of Carkson and O’Reilly should stop to consider that if we did something really simple like pull the plug out of their national extension cord there’d be damned little to power the mikes they use to spread their rhetoric so widely with.
