Justice, Dignity & Self-Determination is a march to express solidarity and support for the ongoing Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation and against the deportation of Palestinian Refugees from Canada.

On the United Nation’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people and on the eve of George W. Bush’s first visit to Ottawa, the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees and Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) are calling on people to march in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for dignity and self-determination.

The Bush Administration, continues a long legacy of U.S. administrations, which have provided full economic and military backing for the illegal Israeli occupation, attacking international efforts to force the Israeli government into withdrawing its troops from occupied Palestine and dismantling its illegal settlement colonies. The U.S. and Israel were among only a hand-full of countries who voted against the implementation of the recent International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling at the UN, that Israel must dismantle the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank, which annexes Israel’s settlement colonies in Palestinian lands and forces two million Palestinians into an open air prison, in violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

The Canadian government, headed by Paul Martin, stands complicit in the U.S. support for the illegal Israeli occupation policies, which have seen over three thousand Palestinians, the majority of them civilians, killed by Israeli occupation forces during the past four years. The Canadian government’s involvement in the attacks on the rights of Palestinians stretches from its complicity with the brutal Israeli occupation to the ongoing efforts of Citizenship and Immigration Canada to deport 100 Palestinian refugees from Canada.

This march also aims to highlight the local struggle for self-determination of Palestinian refugees in Canada, who are fighting against deportation, detention and for their STATUS. It is critical to illustrate our solidarity with local communities on the front-lines of struggles for social justice, such as Palestinian refugees in Canada, who have already been forced by the Canadian government to live underground or take sanctuary in churches to escape deportation to the violence of the illegal Israeli occupation and the violence, poverty and persecution which defines daily life in the 56-year-old Palestinian refugee camps of
Lebanon.

Join us on the streets of Ottawa, in opposition to the policies of terror, violence and occupation inflicted on the people of Palestine, and in solidarity with the local struggle against the deportation of Palestinian refugees from Canada!

Join us in Ottawa! JUSTICE for Palestine!

This demonstration will demand from the Canadian government:

1) To respect its international legal obligations by upholding and implementing the ICJ ruling that Israel dismantles the Apartheid Wall and by demanding that Israel ends its illegal occupation and settlement of Palestinian lands.

2) To stop the deportation and regularize the status of all Palestinian refugees in Canada.

In Solidarity,
the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees
Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR)
