Conservative marriage bill nixed
The Commons won’t vote on a Conservative MP’s private bill to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
Governments are supposed to pass laws that are fair as opposed to ones that may be popular. Our government seems, at least this time, to know the difference.

I would rather committees didn’t terminate contentious bills early. The sword can cut both ways. Is there some reason to suspect this bill would not be defeated after open debate in Parliament?
