….. yesterday if I hadn’t been doing Canada Day things at ‘The Hill’
Despite reports to the contrary Dick Cheney said on Thursday the Bush administration’s war on terrorism had brought “decisive and relentless action” against extremists and said the world and America were safer because of it…. maybe he hasn’t read this study by the Institute for Policy Studies and Foreign Policy in Focus either - or maybe he has and thinks that nobody else has seen it.
From the looks of this poll Bush (and Cheney) have some work to do in the trust building arena, as they say - you can fool some of the people some of the time, but………..
The campaign appears to have made it’s start in that area by going to church and calling on the faithful to turn over their member directories to the campaign and asking the ministers to hold voter registration drives. They better get it done quick before the faithful find out that their righteous administration’s Pentagon is not cooperating with the Abu Ghraib probe and comes to the conclusion that just maybe they have something to hide.
Bremer was able to make his get away, according to the NY Times [via Xinhuanet ] he
…..scuttled out Baghdad so fast, he didn’t even wait for the new ambassador, John Negroponte, to arrive so he could pass along some safety tips
Bremer is one of the lucky ones, he can [and no doubt will] disappear until it’s safe to pop up and publish his book on the whole affair…. I have to wonder how many soldiers are going to return from Iraq and, after getting out of the service and gaining the right to once again speak freely, hit the talk show circuits, or write their own personal memoirs about the war - do you suppose the recollections of the average man and woman on the ground will match up with Bremers?
