Those who read this blog on even a semi-regular basis know that I’m highly critical of the blatant hypocrisy of the Bush administration - type the word hypocrisy into the search box for a few samples. In this case I’m first going to applaud the Bush administration for making note of the human rights abuses of its allies…. and immediately follow that up with a paragraph taken from this article at Hi Pakistan

While allies are censured for human rights violations, the harshest criticism is reserved for countries that have differences with the United States or are seen as defying US and Western influences.

The old double standard rears it’s ugly head yet one more time - a gentle tap on the wrist for it’s buddies, and harsh criticism for those who don’t toe the American line.
