Ontario blasts U.S. police for crossing border

It’s “totally inexcusable” and “offensive” that U.S. police crashed through a border crossing in Niagara Falls during a high-speed pursuit that ended up killing an Ontario woman, the province’s community safety minister said Friday.

“The idea that a police force in the United States would come across, totally abandon all the protocols that are in place, enter into Canadian territory, provincial territory and as a result, inadvertently kill somebody is very offensive to me and very troubling,” he said.

What did these idiots hope to accomplish anyway for Pete’s sake? They illegally entered a foreign country so as far as I am aware they couldn’t even make a citizens arrest - the immortal words of Red Foreman come immediately to mind….. they are, in the classic sense of the phrase, dumb-asses.

Surprise, surprise, the Police Chief from New York is defending this stupidity

Chella said that he had reviewed Wednesday’s incident at the Niagara Falls border crossing and felt his officers were justified in their conduct.

Of course it’s justified John, totally understandable even - it’s standard operational procedure for enforcement types from one country to to crash the border into another to finish up a car chase…. it happens all the time doesn’t it?

It is really difficult to come to any conclusion other than that the police officers that illegally entered Canada, and the police chief who is backing them, have little or no regard for Canadian sovereignty or international protocol. It remains to be seen how the American government will view this incident - I’d like to be proven wrong but my bet is that they dismiss the whole thing as just one of those unfortunate things and ignore it completely…. that will be to bad as it will only serve to perpetuate belief in the [idiot] American cowboy mentality.

I can imagine the response if the chase was moving in the other direction - does anybody else see machine guns opening up on everybody given their current state of paranoia.
