BA, Air France cancel seven flights to and from United States citing security
British Airways and Air France on Saturday announced the cancellation of seven flights to and from the United States because of security concerns. BA canceled four flights between Heathrow Airport and Washington on Sunday and Monday and one from Heathrow to Miami on Sunday. Air France canceled two Paris-to-Washington flights.
I wonder if we will see any actual evidence that there was a threat of some nature connected with these flights, or whether it is based on more of that credible intelligence we’ve heard about before. In the end, it probably won’t matter much which is the case. Tourism will suffer in both directions on perception that it is not safe to fly to/from the United States…. on the up-side Canada is close, they can come here, hang out, drink some good Canadian beer, pick up a Canadian flag or two for their backpacks, and fly Air Canada to Europe.
“Canada, the safe gateway to the Americas” sounds like a pretty good marketing slogan to me
