According to the report the wife and daughter of Iraqi general Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri have been “arrested” and are being “interrogated” (their words) by U.S. forces in Iraq. No charges are said to have been laid against them however the U.S. army wants to hold them for interrogation in case they know where al-Duri may be as well as, hopefully, draw al-Duri into the open.
In other words, under U.S. rule in Iraq, you can be arrested, interrogated, and held indefinitely, for being married to, or being a child of, a wanted Iraqi official soldier……. to play the role of “bait” for the one they want.
That sounds legal doesn’t it? Well, at least legal in countries ruled by (shall we say) less than democratic officials and leaders.
