Intelligence officials are reexamining data used in justifying the war. They say Hussein’s regime may have sent bogus defectors.

So now we know…. Saddam Hussein sent “double agents disguised as defectors to the West to plant fabricated intelligence” about nonexistent weapons programs.

“They were shown bits of information and led to believe there was an active weapons program, only to be turned loose to make their way to Western intelligence sources,” said the senior intelligence official. “Then, because they believe it, they pass polygraph tests … and the planted information becomes true to the West, even if it was all made up to deceive us.”

What a devious plan!! Hussein managed to ensure that the United States would have an excuse to form a coalition, bomb and occupy the country, kill thousands of Iraqi citizens (including his own family members), and enter into a lengthy guerrilla war that would throw the country into turmoil for years…. the absolute audacity of the plan boggles the mind.

One can only imagine the horror G.W.B. is feeling at this very instant, to know that Saddam Hussein’s plan was a stunning success and that he has both the United States and George Bush right where they want him.
