‘Since entering the blogging world a few months ago (the beginning of May to be exact) I’ve been called a pessimist, a dooms-dayer, a nay-sayer, anti-American, jealous, grim, and a few other descriptors because of my stance on the Iraq issue - so last night I started looking around for a few “good-news” stories out of Iraq not attributed to either the U.S. administration or the ruling party in the British government….. the pick’ens are slim but I did come across this.

( Channel News Asia ) - An Iraqi couple have named their six-week-old baby after George Bush in honour of the man whose troops now occupy their country.

………. The family said they named their son out of gratitude to the US president for saving Iraq from the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein.

Like the reporter filing the story I think Stageleft will wait and see if little George Bush Abdul Kader Faris Abed El-Hussein appreciates what his parents have done…. whether he does or not we do hope that he and his family manages to survive the current situation in Iraq and that he and his brothers are able to grow up in a peaceful and secure country.

(The content of this post came from an older pMachine incarnation of stageleft with a different hosting company - comments, if any, didn’t make it into the rebuild)
