Turkey moves to host foreign troops

BBC World: “The Turkish Government is to ask parliament to allow foreign troops to use the country’s land and air in the event of war with Iraq.”

Given the amount of opposition within the government as well as extremely high opposition within the general population this has got to be one tough decision for the Turkish government.

U.S. interests seem to have no place for the little guy next door to the war so Turkey gets placed in the position of going along with the plan so they can call for help when all hell breaks loose, which is preferable to not going along with the plan and having the call for help ignored when all hell breaks loose.
